The Times Online has an extensive interview today with Tim Berners-Lee (inventor of the world wide web) on his view of the "semantic web" in which data sharing across the web is possible among any application. The concept is certainly intriguing, and offers amazing possibilities to go far beyond what we can do today via mash-ups, but at the same time I wonder about the security and management implications. It’s likely we’ll see an ongoing battle between spammers trying to push their information into the semantic web, and application developers trying to create intelligent and adaptable filters.
